A simple Google search would show you that the polar regions are freezing all year round.
In the eighties I was caught in a snow storm on Pikes Peak (Colorado) in August.
Antarctica is a considerably more intense area than Colorado.
In short, shlt happens.
The weather always varies, but trends are long term tendencies.
In case you didn't know, there is lots of ice at the poles, even in the Summer. One of the biggest threats from global warming is that if the ice melts, it can cause the sea level to rise, flooding millions of peoples' homes and decreasing the albedo, amplifying the warming.

This is my answer to another one of these postings.
You can't get stuck IN the ice in winter as it is too thick and solid to get into it at all.
Only in summer is it thin enough for a boat to penetrate.
Then a spell of bad weather blowing the loose ice together to form a solid mass and voila.
If I recall correctly Shackleton at the North pole had the same problem.
Yah! Fancy that. 100 years ago an expedition successfully made that trip in a wooden boat, not an ice breaker.
