1/1 = 100%
1/2 = 50%
1/3 = 33?%
1/4 = 25%
1/5 = 20%
1/6 = 16 1/6 %
1/7 ≈ 14%
1/8 = 12?%
1/9 ≈ 11%
1/10 = 10%
1/11 ≈ 9%
1/12 = 8?%
1/14 ≈ 7%
1/15 = 6?%
1/16 = 6?%
1/20 = 5%
1/25 = 4%
1/33 = 3?%
1/40 = 2?%
1/50 = 2%
1/100 = 1%
The trick is to remember that the denominator of the fraction and the answer in per cent always multiply to make 100. Consider, for example: 1/3 = 33?%. 3 * 33? = 100.
Another trick, the number pairs repeat so 1/14 is approximately 7% and 1/7 is approximately 14%.
(If you want to know what 1/7 is exactly then you might remember the numbers: 14 28 57. They nearly double each time but the last pair is 57 and, annoyingly, not 56. How does this help? Well, 1/7 = 0.142857 142857 142857 recurring. 2/7 is 0.285714 285714 recurring - same sequence: different starting point. 3/7 is 0.428571 428571 etc and so on. So if you can remember 142857 you can work out all the 1/7 type fractions exactly. The start of the sequence goes in order of size: 1, 2, 4, 5, 7, 8.)
Suppose you want 2/9 as a percentage: 9 * 11 is 99 or very nearly 100. So 1/9 would be approximately 11% so 2/9 will be twice that or approximately 22%.
Numbers are fun!
To change a fraction into a percentage you have to set it up in a small equation first. I prefer to use the proportion method.
1/5 = x /100. Allow X to represent the percentage in this case. First to do this method, you cross multiply adjacent variables. 1*100 = 100. 5*X = 5X. Second, you divide, 100/5X, and you have 20x. Replace X with the percent %, and you have 20%.

So divide 1 by 5 , then multiply by 100 to get 20%
20%
1/100 1%
1/20 5%
1 /10 10%
1/5 20%
1/4 25%
1/2 50%
3/4 75%
