There are many indicators from around the world that the planet is warming, these have been observed over several decades and warnings of the effects of climate change have long since been issued by scientists, governments and advisory bodies.
We have temperature records that date from as far back as 1659, for the last 130 years we have had a network of global temperature measurements and for the last 30 years the temperature of the entire planet has been observed from space. These records show that the world has warmed significantly in the last hundred or so years with two predominant periods of warming having occurred.
We can also observe the effects on the Polar regions and glaciers around the world. In recent decades the amount of Polar ice has shrunk very significantly and in recent years it’s been at record low levels. Elsewhere we can note that half of the world’s glaciers outside of the Polar regions have melted and of those that remain almost all of them show signs of accelerated melting.
We can also look at how the weather around the world has been affected. In doing so we see that there are now six times as many flood events as there were in the middle of the last century, the number of heatwaves and heatwave days has tripled and every one of the deadliest heatwaves on record has occurred quite recently. All of the hottest years on record have occurred since 1998.
There are numerous indicators to be found in the plant and animal kingdom. Migratory patterns have changed as have hibernation patterns. Farmers are now planting crops earlier and harvesting them later thanks to extended growing seasons and we can now plant trees and crops at higher altitudes than in the past thanks to the warmer conditions.
People will realize that global warming is becoming an issue when New York, Pakistan, and Japan finally sink which is a big possibility considering the fact that their water level is higher than the ground level.
There has been many signs such as:
1. World record breaking storms.
2. Ice melting which will rise the water levels
3. Droughts and landslides destroying crops.
Many may argue that global warming is a hoax, but if you go to Middle East, you'll realize how awful the heat has become in the past years.
