Can anyone point out people more selfish than greenies?

Gringo and pegminer are pretty much selfish and arrogant. A typical "greenie" trait. They talk down to people as if they were superior to them. They are self-proclaimed experts on the environment. They've pretty much told us they are. It would be safe to say they side with the "green" crowd. They at least try to attach science to their continued arrogance which IMO makes them worse than a "greenie".

You have no idea what you are ranting about. If you want to post here, can't you at least post something thoughtful and accurate? There is very little farming in Marin county, legal or otherwise. Even if the residents wanted to share water with agricultural areas, the total area and volume in Marin County would make no difference AND more importantly there are no connections from Marin to other parts of the state; there is no way to move Marin water to farms outside of the county.

The vast agricultural tracks in the Central Valley, as well as the major population centers get almost all of their water from the Sierra snowpack. That is an entirely different watershed with entirely different management needs and opportunities. Maybe you should look at a map: these are on different sides of the state.

I understand your rant that there is not enough government-control over water supply, though you seem to be much more a fan of big government infrastructure than I am. I prefer problems be solved local government -- as in Marin -- or through free-market approaches. I do not value big government as you do; that is primarily a value difference. But at least try to be informed before making uneducated statement about any particular population.

Marin County is self-sustaining in terms of water, they have only what rains onto Marin County. They are on their own. Voters there decided a few years ago to stop the development of desalination for water security. They may yet regret that policy change. But it has nothing to do with water supply outside of Marin.

And pot grown in Marin is only personal supplies or maybe some small illegal farms in hidden areas. There is no legal pot in Marin as there is in many other counties and there is little untraveled open space necessary for illegal farming. The vast pot growing regions in California are well to the north of Marin: northern Sonoma County, Lake , Mendocino, Humbolt and Trinity Counties. Entirely different cultures and entirely different watersheds. This is just one more way your rant make no sense.

The water abusers in California are large companies who long-ago had unlimited rights to Sierra water written into law. They can use water without marketplace or regulatory accountability. Throughout the state, residents use only about 10% of the water. Residential reductions anywhere are only a drop in the bucket, and for places like Marin who are not attached to the statewide pipelines, it is not even a drop.

I'd say hypocritical rather than selfish. They want to save the environment by forcing us to buy light bulbs filled with mercury. They fight oil refineries and exploration in their back yard while expecting a steady flow of gas extracted and refined elsewhere. They brag about how their city/county/state is carbon neutral while buying goods imported from the largest CO2 producer in the world.

Keep on buying those consumer goods. And keep on wagging your finger at China. Forget about the connection between the two.

Anybody watering a lawn during a water shortage is not a greenie. A real greenie would have a xeriscaped yard and a rainwater collection system.

I am only half green. I have the rainwater system, but still have a lawn.

Teddy Roosevelt was a "Greenie" who supported regulation of business, restrictions on corporate financing of political campaigns, and a huge expansion of national forests and national parks. This ultra Marxist also wrote books and even once invited a black man to dinner at the white house. No shades of gray for this selfish alarmist. That's why he was a favorite of Leftie president George W. Bush, and that's why the Indian site at Mount Rushmore was used to carve his face on the cliff. The whole thing was a conspiracy to make people pay taxes and learn how to read and write in school. Such greed. That's why America is now little different than Stalin's USSR, except for Ha Ha Ha Goebbels-loving "true scientists" who would never vote for a president who threw trillions away on a bungled-up "war," and drove the economy right into the biggest crash since the 1930s. The true "scientists" who know all science books are socialist hoaxes, and who save us all by posting original questions here. Amazing what the AGW Reptilian cult can do with just a few pennies of a gasoline tax, Elvis's time machine for Al Gore to Vulcan-mind-bend Svante Arrhenius, and that fake birth certificate of Barackylonian Hussein Osama, and how little elitist literacy has be tolerated in order to counter that tyranny.

"people more selfish than greenies?"

OH YEAH.

People who are more concerned about the price of gasoline today than they are about the world that their grandchildren will inherit. Stealing from your own offspring is pretty much as low as it gets.

Greenie, "Tobacco is evil, unhealthy, kills, has powerful lobbies, and we must pass laws banning its consumption in public and some private places. Must pass laws to ban smoking around kids. Smoking pot is healthy. It's just an herb. A plant. Harms nobody. Must pass laws to legalize it. It's medicinal. Must use the ACA to allow users to smoke pot anywhere."

For libtards it's all about them.

To the extent that you have a point, the word you're looking for is "rich people", not "greenies". I'd bet you'd see even more blatant acts of selfishness from equivalently wealthy people who *aren't* "greenies".

Because anyone who waters their lawn must be a greenie and a pot smoker. Ok Skippy, go back to wonderland now.

Isn't that a result of your beloved Free Market?

It's odd but for a moment you sounded just like a pinko loving communist with your appeal to giving water to those who most need it instead of to those able and willing to pay for it.

For example, in Marin County in California, they are watering their lawns and there is plenty of water to grow their pot but farmers are greatly in need of water and it is being taken away from them by people who make decisions and live in Marin County.

Another, Al Gore preaches conservation but uses more fossil fuel energy that whole towns of people combined.

Denialists, they want to preserve an outdated status quo that only benefits themselves and their super rich puppet masters, and that only in the short term. And to hell with everyone else

Hippocrytical Hippies! The lot of them!
