Is global warming true?

Like is the world really warming up enough for many continents to go under water? And if so, how much time will we have before it accurs

Yes, science tells us it is true. The facts are that CO2 is a greenhouse gas, that without greenhouse gases the earth average temperature would be 33C colder (a giant snowball) and that we have added 40% more CO2 to the atmosphere. There is not one scientist who denies these facts.

As to the question "how much time will we have before many continents to go under water?" The expected average sea level rise is about 2 meters (6 feet) by the end of the century. Not nearly enough to flood the continents in our life time.

It’s clear global warming/climate change is real. It’s equally clear the > current < warming cycle has been going on since the last ice age and that’s why the Sahara was grassland 10,000 years ago but is desert today + has been desert for centuries. The fact the current warming trend started long before there was any industry and when there were hardly any people is good evidence humans are not the cause. It also means humans are not the solution.

The Earth goes through constant climate change cycles and has done so throughout its history. The exact mechanism is not well understood but appears to be related to solar activity and not human activity. Note that the Earth is apparently at the end of the current warming cycle and should begin cooling soon (“soon” in geological terms).

All of the carbon tax/carbon offset BS is just robbery or extortion disguised as science. Countries like China and India LOVED the idea of carbon taxes/carbon offsets – but only when they could pretend to be “undeveloped”. Once it was pointed out both are horrific polluters of > every type < they suddenly weren’t so keen on the idea. Only the global Left and countries like North Korea & Zimbabwe still love the idea of carbon taxes.

The Left loves the idea because they are dedicated to destroying the West in general and the USA in particular. Getting the developed world to wreck its own industrial base is something they want. Having the West simultaneously give free guilt-money to countries like North Korea & Zimbabwe would just make it better.

Unfortunately, scientific research has been compromised by the politics of the subject. The academic community leans far to the Left, so researchers who “prove” human-caused global warming (AGW) are rewarded with more grants, but researchers who don’t “prove” AGW find themselves cut off.

The politics of the issue are a problem because we really do need to understand how the Earth works so we can anticipate, predict, and adjust. We also need to reduce actual pollution that is poisoning our environment, and countries like China & India shouldn’t get a free ride.

Oh yeah !

But don't worrie to much about it : our planet always been going through different global temperature. Very cold (glaciation period) to very hot where europe had a subtropical climate in the dinosaurs age and then they all burned up. An hypothesis about the evolution of human kind include a global warming transforming tropical forest into savannas, the monkey had to walk long distances and rise up to see dangers coming. The thing is we accelerate this process and we cannot go back !

About the sea level : fill up a glass with ice and water. The ice is melting but does the level of the water change ?? ... no !! But the planet also have other water resources on land : what we call snow ! Continents will not be underwater but our geography will be changed and some islands will disappear.

So yes the planet is warming up and yes the sea level will rise.

um...yes, definately it's true. There's all sorts of scientific evidence about how "true" global warming really is. Well when temperature rises. ice melts right, so the polar caps are melting etc, so antarctica is already going under water. Areas around Asia are too. Pretty much everyone can agree that global warming is something that is happening. The real question is whether humans are responsible for this- many scientists believe it is because of e.g. releasing of carbon compounds and sulphur dioxide etc. but there are also people who just believe it is a natural phenomonum, like the Ice Age- nature is going through another change.

Global warming is true, however the earth has cooled over a period of time. The natural process we know as global warming is caused by the huge release of carbon dioxide by algae. Suprisingly, humans only produce 3% of the combined co2 in the world. For all the people who will assume I am lying, the Victorian times were a lot hotter then they are now, what kind of cars did they have? In the 1700's they feared for another ice age

When the core of the earth gets too hot to sustain itself it releases hot gas through the ocean floor. This gas is carbon and as it drifts up othe service it it absorbed by the algae who exhale it as co2. The earth has not risen in tempature since early 2000 and I hate that the government make us pay extra money to save the planet and nothing ever gets done to completely change how we consume energy. I would like to see the day when we do not need neuclear power plants, and rely on solar panels which every house can have and cars fit with electric engines that will be superior to petrol engines.

It is estimated that we only have 100 years of oil left, if no alturnative is found then we may revert back to our barbaric ways. But at least we will not have world leaders who have no concept of real life

Yes, Global warming is true. The proof is that many of the mountains are being meltdown. The temperature is being uncertain all around the world. And various kinds of diseases are being occurred on the earth.

And about the time left, it will take much more time to sink our land in water. So you can live your life as you wish without any fear.

Global warming is real, it is here now but it would probably take 150-200 years before ther is a lot of floodin and if all the ice melts water will rise about 200feet

Anytime. The world is shrinking. The main reason for this is we the people who degrade the god given gift our mother nature. We carelessly burn plastic, cut trees, use non biodegradable techniques and cause harm to the environment. Take the case of Maldives within some few decades the island is going to go under water. Fiji is on next on the list. Wake up you careless generation before its too late. I think there is lot of time but we should not take due advantage. We should do our part by being responsible citizens and care and utilize the resources judiciously. Drops of water make a big ocean, same way with the environment.

It sure is

And we are causing it

The ten warmest years in the instrumental record are 2010, 2005, 2009, 2007, 2002, 1998, 2006, 2003, 2011 and 2012.

no. Global warming is signifies by the melting of the icecaps because of US! but no, this is just the natural course the world takes over millions of years going cold-warm-cold-warm so were just entering the warm era

Like is the world really warming up enough for many continents to go under water? And if so, how much time will we have before it accurs

Yes, now a day going to up warming about of climate change .

Well, there aren't glaciers still covering all of Europe, Russia, Canada and most of North America... that's why the humans that lived during that time developed SUV's and coal burning factories to fight back the ice.

I thought everyone knew that.

Indubitably.

According to peer reviewed work the Arctic will be ice free this year, what more proof could anyone need?

"Our projection of 2013 for the removal of ice in summer is not accounting for the last two minima, in 2005 and 2007," the researcher from the Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey, California, explained to the BBC.

"So given that fact, you can argue that may be our projection of 2013 is already too conservative."

It is true [global warming] and eventually the crust will get submerged a bit more (if we continue on the destructive path we're on) and so it is all dependent on our behaviors when/if it will happen.

yes, it's true. maybe a few decades later, some countries like Venice will be under water!

Yes it's true.... Damn Antarctica being made of flipping ice. We've got awhile though.

its true.antarctica is melting and sea level is rising.
