How do you know if you need a oil change?

Follow the maintenance specifications in your vehicle's manual!

The basic rule of oil changes is every 3000 miles or 3 months. Or when there is white smoke coming out of the tailpipe/

rule of thumb for oil changes: under average conditions; 6 months or 6000 miles. synthetic: 6 months or 10000 miles. specific synthetic oil products used with specific hi capacity synthetic filters can extend changes to 15000 miles/ one year. i follow the 6 month/6000 mile rule.

Mr Sonny is correct; however, if there is any doubt, get it done anyway. It is false economy to cut corners with this kind of thing. Thereafter, stick to the manufacturer's recommendations.

A new timing belt is a good idea too, if there is doubt about the vehicles history.

Change mine every 3,000 miles. Don't care what anyone says. Oh and my truck is 11 years old and going great.

Check your mileage or if the oil appears dirty.

Oil's well that peaks well.

Frack the drawl baby drawl.

May this globally warm your change in category.
