Do you believe in Global Warming?

As in do you think that the avg. temp of the world will go up 7 degrees centigrade within a hundred years?

I sure as **** don't

I do believe in global warming, but I think global warming would happened with or without humans interfering sure we are enhancing the effect of it, but it would still be happening. Take the Medieval warm period where in UK there were able to grow grape vines and make wine where now all we can make is potatoes. Or for instance the glacial periods in the 1800's where in UK the river Thames froze over and people were able to skate and have fairs on it. There was no cars or a high population or any of the factors we have today that would of been adding to global warming yet it was still happening.

Global warming or rather climate change is the better word can happens for many reasons even as simple as more sunspots on the suns and therefore more energy emitted by the sun, or even elliptical changes in the way the earth rotates bringing it closer (or further away) from the sun. Do any of these things have anything to do with more people driving more cars? Absolutely not. Global warming is natural otherwise there would still be wooly mammoths roaming the earth! People need to realise that we can't stop global warming but however all these added co2 into the atmosphere isnt helping as it is trapping MORE (as in more than usual - yes co2 is already present in the atmosphere or the earth would be several degrees colder than it is now) of the suns radiation and instead of letting it go to space it makes it reflect back on to the earth.

So to summarise by driving less cars, recycling etc it is stopping the 'ENHANCED green house effect' where there is MORE co2 in the atmosphere leading to MORE of the heats radiation. But the green house effect (where co2 is natuarally present in the atmosphere and naturally warms the earth without human intervention of cars etc)/ global warming is natural and we can't stop it and we're just gonna have to deal with it!!

Science is the understanding of nature based on observation and reason. NASA's temperature record shows that the average temperature of the Earth has risen by about 0.8°C in the last century, and the increase in carbon dioxide from man's emissions is the best explanation of why that is happening. Projections as far as 100 years into the future have large uncertainties and you should not reject the theory associated with global warming simply because you don't happen to believe the projection.

The article below shows NASA's temperature graph and has some of the best data available about what is happening to the Earth. Please have a look at the evidence and then see what you think.

You don't have to believe in global warming.

Global warming is a fact.

Some people believe it is NOT man made.

Many scientists think having the proof it is man made.

But it doesn't matter if it is or isn't.

If you force it into a "religious frame' most people going to invest all their time into defending what they believe is true.

Pollution is a fact. Global warming is a fact. Killing more then 200 species a day is a fact. Poisoning water and soils is a fact. Running out of drinking water is a fact....

NOT DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT IS ALSO A FACT.

Stop worrying about believing in it or not. Start thinking how to save our own ***. If the ecosystem is damaged we are going to die and that's also a fact.

Global Warming is not the word that I use, because even though the global climate is getting warmer, not everywhere is getting warmer at the same time. Climate Change is the term I use, because the climate is absolutely changing. The models I have seen from a colleague of mine who works at the University of Colorado at Boulder suggests that the planet is in a natural state of warming. As for the man-made aspect of it, it suggests that it is contributing to the warming effect, by how much is inconclusive. So, basically we are due for a period of warming naturally, but we are also accelerating the process by at the very least a little bit.

Bottom line is that we as a species, just like all other species are going to have to adapt to it. We are very capable of doing this. As rule people don't like to accept change, I for one love it :)

7°C in 100 years is far outside of any likely possibility.

On the other hand, RCP8.5 in the IPCC's AR5 projects 9°C above present by 2300, so...

Assume you mean degrees Celsius - I think there is confusion in some of the responses re: the metric spoken of. any way there is such a thing as GW it has always been with us and always will - The $64000 question is, how will the planet cope? Jury is still out on that one.

i think it is worse then that, i live in Wisconsin, are winters are "nominally" harsh and long with LOTS of snow, the last 2 years the winters are getting warmer and shorter and less and less snow, are summers normally get to about 75 to 85 in the day, last year it was 100 to 120 every day for a week.

I don't believe in the fairy tale of Catastrophic Anthropogenic Global Warming.

7 degrees is above the highest IPCC projections : http://www.ipcc.ch/publications_and_data...

Why did you close a temperature of 7 degrees to not "believe" in?

Its a bit like saying you dont believe we evolved from monkeys therefore your dont believe in evolution

As in do you think that the avg. temp of the world will go up 7 degrees centigrade within a hundred years?

I sure as **** don't

Luckily your opinion is worthless and rightly ignored

I've seen the receding Alaskan Glaciers up close and that pretty much sums it up for me.

7C appears high for now, but scientists tend to be conservative.

According to the hippie guy on the corner of my street, Its all humans fault. That big ball of fire called the sun has nothing to do with it. I mean, come on thats like being a a bonfire and telling a guy with a cigarette to put it out because its getting hot!
