If your science teacher did say such a thing then they are being very irresponsible and are greatly misinformed. The role of a teacher is to present the facts and to educate, not to cause unwarranted trauma.
As a climate scientist myself I can assure you that the world will not end and nor will humans become extinct as a consequence of global warming. Not now, not in 30 years, not at any time in the future.
Even if the very worst case scenario does come to fruition, which is extremely unlikely, then the planet will only warm to the point where a large number of people will have to migrate to cooler regions, this will mainly affect people in Africa.
That worst-case scenario would be rather like you moving from where you are now to somewhere that’s 7°C warmer. It would be the same as that San Francisco of the future having the same climate as Los Angeles does now.
It would mean many changes, some good and some bad, but in no way is the survival of the human race under threat.
This is complete nonsense and a grossly irresponsible thing for a teacher to say. They are certainly not teaching you "science". You should report this matter to the head of your school.
Although most scientists agree that global warming and climate change are happening, none of them has suggested anything like such a cataclysmic scenario. Do your own research on the internet, where there are many sites explaining the real science.
I'm a bit skeptical she said exactly that. I doubt global warming will extinct the whole human population, given the variety of environments people live in and the variety of techniques they use to survive.
We are now having worse weathers worldwide than we did 50 years ago. I expect that the weather will be worse again in 30 years. The atmosphere is heating which provides more energy to power storms. Also the warmed air can hold more moisture to turn into heavier rains. (Think of how dry it is in winter cold and how often summer is humid.)
Don't freak out, but do what you can to conserve energy from fossil fuels. The fuels come from carbon dioxide stored in age of the dinosaurs (in part). We are returning the stored CO2 to the air. We are not adapted to the temperature of the planet in earlier ages. Many expensive changes will be made in dams, roads, structures, etc, to cope with the changes in weather brought by the change in climate. Alrready, insurance costs are rising.
The real answer is nobody knows.We are adding the energy of 4 Hiroshima bombs to the Atmosphere every second and Earth is getting warmer at an alarming rate due to human activity.According to Steven Chu,Secretary of energy in US,methane is seeping out of thawing permafrost in Arctic and nobody knows when it will be point of no return.

IF the point is that because of cold weather... NO WAY JOSE! just look at Esquimos( don't know if I spelled that wrong) they've been up there for a while. and there are many other groups of people that live on extreme weather like cold or hot. just tell your teacher to watch discovery channel or something like that.
