We know from geologic and fossil records that Earth has three stable climatic states of which our current climate, that of the ice age ( we're in an interglacial period ) is the least stable. The most stable is snowball Earth which would require a volcanic cataclysm of unbelievable proportions to exit, the next most stable is the warm Earth where even the poles are free of surface ice. We've always known that we would either remain in the current climate and cycle back into a glacial period which was the dominant concept in the 70's or exit into the warm Earth state which would require far more energy to transition to.

However, it's now believed that man's contribution to the CO2 content of the atmosphere by burning fossil reserves that had been sequestered for millions of years, small as the contribution is in comparison to natural contributions may have been enough to trigger a cascade of natural releases such as the pine beetles in BC killing 80% of the pine trees which now rot releasing their carbon as CO2, the diminishing albedo of sea ice coverage, and the thawing of the permafrost and coastal clathrates which could potentially double the CO2 content as well as release methane, a much more effective but short lived greenhouse gas. Other positive feedback loops are suspected but not known and though there are some negative feedback loops such as thermohaline circulation cessation could counter the situation, few negative feedback loops have been observed.

If this cascade has begun, simply reducing our pollution would have little effect except perhaps to slow the process but it's clear that our economic needs and politics of developing nations makes even reducing our pollution partially very difficult. The risks of more active intervention such as geo-engineering are unknown but our experience have always been bad with unintended geo-engineering.

Predictions as to what the effects of such dramatic changes in the climates are dire but unlikely to cause our extinction however many species would go extinct and many people would suffer and even die as our demographics and food production would need to shift. Certainly government stuctures and economies would have to change dramatically.

We know very little about what will happen and there are many assumptions in the models but all indications are that the process has probably already begun and we only have unsatisfactory, dangerous and probably insufficient options to us.

Yet, there is a strong trend amongst many to encourage doubt of the problem by whatever misrepresentations possible to avoid the costs of the questionable options available to us, hence to many in the public, it still appears a contentious issue though in fact it has been deeply explored and almost all qualified researchers are in agreement that it is happening.

Definition of Global Warming

There’s no hard and fast definition. In most cases when people talk about global warming they’re referring to the rise in the average global temperature that’s happened because of our emission of greenhouse gases.

Brief Description of Global Warming

The Earth is at a distance from the Sun which means it should be extremely cold, frozen solid in fact. The reason it isn’t is because greenhouse gases in the atmosphere retain heat and this keeps our planet warm, these gases act like a layer of insulation and the more of them there are the thicker that layer of insulation becomes.

The most common greenhouse gases are water vapour, carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide, these four gases cause 99% of the warming effect. There’s lots of other gases but only in small amounts.

Our industrialised lifestyles produce a lot of greenhouse gases as waste products, for example from the burning of coil, oil and gas; from manufacturing and agricultural processes and from the sewerage and waste we produce.

The gases we have produced are building up in the atmosphere, this is allowing more heat to be retained and as a result the planet is slowly warming up. Sometimes natural processes slow the rate of warming, at other times they speed it up; the overall long-term trend is one of rising temperatures.

There are many consequences, one of the most apparent is the disruption to global weather patterns. These have affected pretty much everywhere on the planet and our weather today is different from that of the past. In some places this is a good thing as it’s meant more rain and warmer temperatures – good for the water supply, growing crops etc. In other places it’s brought droughts, flooding and heatwaves.

How Did Global Warming Start?

Natural cycles mean that the Earth is always warming or cooling and as a result the climate is always changing. These natural changes are almost as old as the Earth itself, in this respect warming and cooling started 4.5 billion years ago.

The manmade warming is much more pronounced that any natural warming and this started when we switched from agrarian (farming) lifestyles to more industrial ones. The most significant change being the Industrial Revolution, this began in the UK in about 1750, spread across Europe then the whole world.

As populations have grown and we’ve become ever more industrialised, our greenhouse gas emissions have steadily climbed. Today, every person on the planet produces about five tonnes of them per year.

I'll explain but first, please understand that the REAL debate is about "man-made" Global Warming --- not global warming. It's true there has been a little natural warming over the last several decades but it was NOT caused by human activity.

Man-made Global Warming advocates have no empirical science to back their claim. And their advocacy movement has been mired in scandal since its beginning. Here are some things you should know:

1) The Earth has been both much warmer and much colder in the distant past, long before the industrial age. Climate is indeed changing, but it has always changed and probably always will. These are obviously natural cycles that man does not and cannot control.

2) Global Warming alarmists have been caught in one lie after another. Huge scandals have been continuously revealed since the early 1980’s when the campaign began. Some of these are listed below:

3) Al Gore’s movie "An Inconvenient Truth" was full of bald faced lies. Like the Polar Bears were drowning, or the Ice Caps were melting, or the oceans were rising --- all lies. In fact a court of England ruled the movie was so flawed that it could not be shown to school children without a disclaimer.

4) The ClimateGate affair exposed the utter corruption of the Warmist community with their exposed emails speaking of how they intended to “hide the decline” and how to manipulate data and the peer-review process in their favor.

5) Then there is the fact that the globe isn’t even warming anymore and the small amount of warming experienced from the 1900’s to 2013 timeframe was negligible and well within the envelope of normal.

6) During this same period of marginal warming, scientists also noticed that other planets in our solar system were warming. What do these planets have in common ? --- the Sun.

7) Phil Jones, head of the Climatic Research Unit, the Guru and High Priest of Global Warming himself admitted there has been no statistically significant warming. If anyone on the planet would have been aware of statistically significant warming it would have been Phil Jones and he admitted there has been none. (Game Over)

8) Warmists like Al Gore refuse to engage in any formal debate on the issue. That’s because on the few occasions Warmist have debated openly, they lose, and they lose big. Lord Monckton utterly destroys them time and time again.

9) Al Gore and other Warmists have stated clearly that they want to make CO2 the object of a global tax. CO2 is the perfect object for their revenue purposes because you literally cannot live without making CO2, after all, we exhale it. And good science has revealed that no correlation exist to show CO2 drives warming. Demonizing CO2 is all about the tax dollars, and that’s all its about.
