Is Obama going to do anything about Global Warming, or has he said, the heck with it?

What global warming? It's been cooling for at least 12 years according to HadCrut3 & 4.

According to RSS Satellite data there has been no warming for almost 18 year.

You know , now you are comparing O'bama to God! Don't you remember the song that says he's got the whole world in his hands? Well, I think that was God and not O'bama! It would take someone doing just that to make a difference! People have been talking about this since I was in Elementary school, and that wasn't yesterday and they are still talking about it and nothing has really changed until someone throws a rock and hits a couple of our policitians off their high and mighty horses and then they'll do something. I don't think putting it on the back of one man who had a job for four years. Their hasn't been any real change in such a long time, maybe the United Nations should take it over cause doesn't it affect the whole world instead of one man that has a nation at war . I have a solution; let's send all these gangs and cartells over to fight the war. They have enough money to buy anything they need and enough drugs to keep the population of their opponents out trying to eat,!

This will never happen. You wouldn't want it too...trust me. The only way to stop global warming, if it's really happening, is to deplete the earths population to 1 billion people. That would equal a lot of genocide.

Then you'd have to make sure that only certain people got to use the technologies that we now have. For instance, maybe only one percent of the population would get to have cars, jets, computers, and cell phones as it takes a lot of power, factories, and pollution to make and to have these things. The rest of us would be forced into farming. It would be like slavery. 990,000,000 people working the farms, and only an elite of 10,000,000 getting to have all the pleasures of life.

Well, most sane people would fight to the death to keep that from happening, which is why it won't.

Since republicans do everything they can to stop whatever he proposes,

Maybe Obama is trying some reverse psychology.

Obama, "Hey, maybe we shouldn't do anything about global warming."

Republicans, "What? Obama doesn't want to do anything? We better get together and pass a global warming bill."

Politicians, regardless of their party, make a habit of saying X Y and Z then going and doing A B and C. They like to keep the voters on side so tend to make promises that appeal, following through with them can sometimes be a different matter.

Obama has made quite a number of commitments to tackling climate change, where these will ultimately go remains to be seen. It’s possible that future Administrations may reverse policies that are already in place or may introduce more stringent measures.

The US is making some progress and carbon dioxide emissions are falling, they’re now down to the level they were in the early 1990’s. This has been achieved through various measures including a doubling in renewable energy output and the introduction of measures to reduce emissions from conventional power stations.

Several hundred other initiatives have been introduced. Individually some of these are quite small, but combined they have the potential to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Such policies include better thermal efficiency for new buildings, subsidies to farmers to reduce emissions and implement the use of renewables and assistance with extracting methane gas from landfill sites.

There’s a summary of what Obama has done on the Whitehouse website:

http://www.whitehouse.gov/climate-change

Other than rhetoric (a fair bit from him) and leadership (lacking) there is not much any single individual, even the US Prez, can do. The main US actor would have to be the Congress, and they are too busy denying that oceans even exist, to bother acknowledging that they are on a slow-leak Titanic, let alone arrange the deck chairs, let alone bother to send 1 or 2 sailors down to work on keeping the hole in the hull from getting bigger.

Even the US Congress acting would only be a start. Global warming is global and, once the low-hanging fruit (such as wasteful taxpayer subsidies of the fossil fuel industry) is picked (though so barely touched) fundamental free-rider and intergenerational issues inhibit large scale shifts towards non-carbon energy sources.

U.S. National Academy of Sciences, 2010:

http://books.nap.edu/openbook.php?record...

“Climate change is occurring, is caused largely by human activities, and poses significant risks for a broad range of human and natural systems.”

http://www8.nationalacademies.org/onpine...

“Choices made now about carbon dioxide emissions reductions will affect climate change impacts experienced not just over the next few decades but also in coming centuries and millennia…Because CO2 in the atmosphere is long lived, it can effectively lock the Earth and future generations into a range of impacts, some of which could become very severe.”

He lowered the oceans in 2009 . The EPA is doing its best to send the USA back to the 1400s

Man, don't bother Obama, he just got back from vacation!

Obama did such a good job with it than now we are heading into an ice age ,we were much better off with global worming ,that gave us better crops ,now with the ice age , we will starve .

Well to answer your question , he raised my electric bill in KY and my brother that worked at a power plant in IN lost his job ,so yes he is trying to at least change the work and economic climate of the middle class .

What else can he do? Congress make the laws.

(brief is better, unless the answer gets hidden.)

Yes trust me he will what he does to stop his car polluting he puts bottles on his exaust so he traps the co2

there has been zero warming since 1998 that's why it's now called "climate change" but no new records have been set , it's always hottest day since ....., highest rainfall since....., coldest day since..........., worst flood since......
