The world does not need to be saved. In fact, with all this fear about AGW, is NOT the most pressing concern. With the Middle East blowing up, our biggest concern is a global nuclear war.
It is rather simple if you can assume everyone are rational players, as mutually asured destruction assumes. Unfortunately with the terrorists, the assumptions of rational players that won't destroy the world is gone.
Climate change is just something that will cause some problems and needs to be addressed. We will be lucky if we don't purposely destroy ourselves.
