Before I list the main reasons...you should know that methane is about 24 times as potent as carbon dioxide in causing global warming. Now...the main reasons for carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions into the atmosphere:
1. Decomposition of organic materials...flora and fauna.
2. Breathing...when we exhale, the small amount of CO 2 we inhale is slightly increased, when we exhale. And with over 7 billion people and climbing, this is one source that we cannot do much about.
3. Deforestation...tree leaves extract CO2 from the air, and when trees are taken, that means it can no longer help remove the gas.
4. The burning of fossil fuels...coal(power plants), oil(gas in cars & trucks), and natural gas to in our homes and in industry.
5. To a lesser degree, cement production.
P.S. Nuclear energy releases ZERO pollution into the atmosphere.
Religion is the main reason.
Cutting down trees.
Burning fossil fuels.
Using microwaves to send information like cell phone calls and wifi. Microwaves vaporise water molecules.
Suppressing people. People who have less freedom emit more co2.
Vehicles like cars emitting carbon monoxide.
Men controlling everything and not giving women and children a chance. Man made technology is more dangerous and causes more pollution than what women make.
Men leading countries instead of women.
Overpopulation of people.
People living in cities instead of nature
Too many buildings
Too much electricity consuming technology
Too much plastic
Those are some reasons behind increase of co2 in the atmosphere.
There is only 1 reason for the current increase in carbon dioxide. Humans burning fossil fuels.
Before people drove SUVs, carbon dioxide was added to the atmosphere because its solubility in the oceans decreased as temperature increased. In addition, The reason why carbon dioxide continued to increase for centuries after the temperatures started to decrease at the end of the Emian and Holocene maxima was because of oxidation of methane which was released by bogs and possible clathrates under the ocean when Earth was warmer.

The most noteworthy changes in CO2 levels have always been due to temperature changes. we have seen mass shifts in Co2 levels due to natural temperature changes with CO2 consistently lagging by about 800 years, much like we are seeing now. Every major cooling trend the planet has seen has occurred during unusually high CO2 levels and every major warming trend we have seen has started during low CO2 levels. :) :)
