What is your opinion about global warming and why do you feel that way?

I need to write a paper for class and I need some main ideas.

There are several reasons for skepticism:

1) An awareness that the "best possible scientific modeling and observation of the climate" means very little when you're attempting the equivalent of graphing a complex chaotic function with a few dots.

2) Non-falsifiability.

3) It is incredibly disturbing to see supposedly scientifically serious debaters on this subject cite short term temperature trends as if they were meaningful. (Is a warming trend so strange in a period that's not an ice age? For that matter, there are far longer warming trends in ice age periods that merely preceded more ice.)

4) The skeptics don't have to explain about a third of a century of claiming Global Warming is a near term catastrophe.

5) An inexpensive possible solution has been available since the late 1980's. Iron fertilization:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron_fertil...

Short version: iron is not very soluble in ocean water and is commonly a deficient nutrient there. Adding iron causes microscopic plants to multiply. The plants absorb carbon and a significant number sink, sequestering the carbon on the ocean floor. Nor is this just theory. Every part has been observed as natural processes or as experimental results. The overall method has been observed both ways. And this method would be incredibly cheap.

If Man Made Global Warming was worth taking seriously, over the time involved every possible question about any such possible solution would have long since been answered. Either the solution would be currently implemented or there would be definitive proof it can't work that Man Made Global Warming supporters could point to. Clearly if neither its supporters nor those in power take the theory of Man Made Global Warming seriously, why should anyone else?

You're going to see a number of people say that it's not happening, or that it will be good, or whatever.

Some of those people are, Maxx, Sagebrush, Kano, Zippi62, Cyclops, Ian, Jello, OttawaMike, BB, JimZ, RaisinCaine, etc.

On the other hand:

http://www.rkm.com.au/ANIMATIONS/carbon-... <== here's the physics.

For both water and CO2. You really want to understand what it's saying.

The more water and CO2 there is in the atmosphere, the more heat the earth retains.

This is the basic science behind global warming.

Without the relatively small amount of water and CO2 in our atmosphere, the earth would be 60 degrees colder than it is.

Far below freezing.

Because neither oxygen nor nitrogen have much effect at all on how much heat the earth retains.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_warm...

Wikipedia probably has the most complete online description in one place.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_warm...

"The finding that the climate has warmed in recent decades and that human activities are already contributing adversely to global climate change has been endorsed by every national science academy that has issued a statement on climate change, including the science academies of ALL OF THE MAJOR INDUSTRIALIZED COUNTRIES."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_...

"With the release of the revised statement by the American Association of Petroleum Geologists in 2007, no remaining scientific body of national or international standing is known to reject the basic findings of human influence on recent climate change."

IE, NO REPUTABLE SCIENTIFIC ORGANIZATION NOW CLAIMS THAT AGW IS NOT REAL.

SO, virtually all of the scientists, from countries around the entire world, think that global warming is a problem. Why do so many relatively uneducated people, who honestly don't understand the physics involved, think that they are smarter than the scientists, who, in many cases, have Master's, and PhD, degrees? That is the problem that we're having -- the number of people who don't understand, or don't care, that the earth really is warming.

My opinion doesn't matter. Global warming is happening

http://www.noaanews.noaa.gov/stories2010...

And we are causing it

http://c1planetsavecom.wpengine.netdna-c...

The ten warmest years in the instrumental record are 2010, 2005, 2009, 2007, 2002, 1998, 2006, 2003, 2013 and 2012.

There are three ways to falsify AGW.

1. Show that carbon dioxide is not a greenhouse gas. (Passed the test =/= unfalsifiable)

2. Burn all of the oil gas and coal, and if Earth is cold rather than warm when we do so, then AGW is falsified.

3. Find another potential cause other than carbon dioxide,. Produce three graphs that look like this, but one includes the new forcing and carbon dioxide and another includes the new forcing and excludes carbon dioxide.

http://www.grida.no/publications/other/i...

If the graph with the new forcing but no carbon dioxide matches temperature better than the graph with the new forcing and carbon dioxide, AGW is falsified.

There is NO **man-made** Global Warming and there has never been any and here is the PROOF.

What global warming? It's been cooling for at least 12 years according to HadCrut3 & HadCrut4 is nearly flat. http://www.woodfortrees.org/plot/hadcrut...

According to RSS Satellite data there has been no warming for more than 18 years.

See the thing about pollution and global warming is that everyone knows. Everyone knows the bad things and what not to do, and yet people still do it. Global warming is more of a human nature test. For the benefit of ourselves we think, "if I throw this piece of plastic on the ground, it won't make that much of a difference",. At the end of the day all those things add up and we get in the position we are today, and it's not getting better. We need to remember that everything little thing counts, and protecting our Earth and the creatures living on it, we must learn that every person makes a difference, for the better or for the worse. Good luck on your essay!

My opinion is that climate science is not good enough to give exact predictions of what changes are going to happen from the increasing amount of CO2 in the air, but that it is 100% certain that the increase of CO2 in the air is real and 100% certain that it is from man-made sources. The effects that will have are not necessarily easy to predict and not necessarily all bad, and not necessarily limited to changing climate, but it is just foolish to say there cannot be any effects at all, or that only good effects are possible so that we can safely ignore then whole thing.

I wish people cared more about it because it is destroying the earth and it means that everything we do is meaningless because one day we will all die because we don't take care of our earth.

we can.t expect it everyone should feel this deeply.

my opinion is that even if it is real no one actually cares
