Is former Environment Minister Owen Paterson justified in calling for a repeal of th Climate Change Act in UK?

If making some semblance of sense is called justified then he certainly is. Isn't enough time past with disastrous results that someone in position should come to their senses. How much more misery will the Brits have to persevere through because of the bogus greenie anti-human activities? How many more people will have to freeze to death before they realize that their idiocy is on the wrong side of humanity and science.

Is it a wonder why these so called 'saviors of the earth' can stand idly by and watch all the pain and suffering along with those deaths to justify their evil agenda. Finally someone has some common sense and we have to even question his actions just shows how ingrained this evil greenie agenda has gotten.

It just shows how powerful the lie is and how correct Goebbels' theory of the repetition of the lie is.

I don't think so; it would send the wrong message both to our own people and to the rest of the world. As things stand now, an 80% reduction (by 2050 )in the emission of the main greenhouse gasses is the sort of target that all of the developed nations need to aim for if we are to keep climate change under control.

My only concern is that we (the UK) can't solve this on our own; we need international agreement if global warming is to be brought under control.

But the Climate change act is a loose framework; it doesn't mandate any cuts now, it is highly flexible in how the target is achieved. If the evidence was to change, why not change or repeal the act at that time if it is necessary? There is no reason to do so now!

To be honest, I'm not too impressed by anyone associated with Nigel Lawson, when it comes to matters of global warming and climate change.

Yes, he is justified.

The UK is legally committed to something it can't hope to achieve and doesn't actually want to do anyway. We could cut our CO2 emissions to zero and it would only give us a few weeks of grace because of the advances in countries like India and China.

The government has calculated neither the costs nor the benefits. It is a purely political gesture from the "greenest government ever". The fact that it also enables the PM's father-in-law to claim £1000 per day from the poor in the UK is entirely coincidental, I am sure.

The Deputy PM's wife has or had a position on the board of a Spanish windfarm company that wanted to build in the UK. Another coincidence, I am sure.

I think he has it spot on, the UK is facing possible blackouts this winter, when in the past (CEGB times) it was the most reliable and stable grid in the world, it has never suffered a large blackout, not even during the bltz.

All the countries that have been pro-active with renewables are suffering now, with higher priced electricity and unstable grids, while China and India are building their economies and racing ahead towards prosperity.
