Why are Californians more willing than other people, in at least some other US states, to accept the science of climate

If you take the time to look at the data, there is a correlation between educational level in a state (at the bachelors and graduate levels) and acceptance of the theory that humans are influencing climate. California is relatively well educated so they tend to accept climate science as being mostly correct. Alabama, in contrast, is near the bottom in both average education level and acceptance of the science.

Probably for the same reason that Californians are more accepting of evolution than residents of some other states.

Another reason is that if the government does address global warming as it should be addressed, then energy will cost more. Coal is the cheapest source of energy. As we migrate to less, or none carbon intensive sources, the cost of energy increases. In truth, people in Calif are better off than residents of other states.

OR, maybe liberals are more likely to consider disparate views than conservatives. For example, few of us really want to pay more taxes. Liberals are more likely to look at that, but also look at the needs of society, and decide that, on balance, more taxes are acceptable. Conservatives don't need to make that decision. They don't want to pay more taxes, so there's no need to consider the benefit that would accrue from those extra taxes.

I don't know... Aren't you guys the same people that elected a bad action hero as their governor? I'm guessing it's because you guys aren't as smart as everyone else.

Could it be that they are more likely to be liberal and that reality has a liberal bias?
