Is it possible to stop man made climate change given all countries in the world are developing fast, destroying the envi

You really must be convinced that our share of 0.04% of CO2 is the cause of all this disasterous global warming we are experiencing. That is the full 0.8C for the past 150 years, Give or take a little.

The big stuff in climate is the sun and water and both beyond human control, thank goodness.

To much money sloshing about in the global warming community is biasing all the study to find more warming and more disasterous outcomes. It would be nice if it went away and let us solve the worlds real problems.

No, it is not possible, unless you develop an energy source that emits less CO2 and is cheaper than current energy sources, so that those countries would want to adopt it.

China is responsible for 27% of planetary emissions and growing. the IPCC has declared that you need at least an 80% cut in emissions, so even if all other countries agreed and eliminated ALL emissions, you would still not achieve the 80% cut. And it's worse than that. India is at 5% and growing. Countries other than INdian and China emit even more than India and China. US & Europe are dropping and will soon be less than China's emissions alone. You can throw in Japan, Canada, Australia, and South Korea, and still they are less than a third of emissions. You can't cut 80%, when you are only cutting from a 30% block, and the other 70% is increasing.

So again

Define man-made cliamte change. The climate is a chaotic system, so any and everything done affects the climate. Aside from man ceasing to exist, man will have an affect on the climate. Separating that effect from teh effects of other natural causes is extremely difficult.

But let's assume you mean catastrophic climate change. First, you should know that we have only seen a 0.8 degree increase in global temperature over the past 100 years. Not exactly a crisis of epic proportion. Further look up CO2 fertilization. Also note that generally warmer climate help plant growth. Not all of the effects of this global warming are bad. This is not to say that we should not reduce our CO2 emissions, we definately should. What I am saying, however, is that this is not a crisis of epic proportion.

So can we change it? Yes, but not in the manner prescribed by the warmers. For the most part, they have been advocating a CO2 tax. There are certainly non-CO2 emitting sources of power, most notably including solar and nuclear as well as some lower CO2 emitting solutions like natural gas. Solar is an amazing technology and could lead to some real cuts in CO2 across the world. But that is only the case if it costs less than the CO2 emitting sources of power. China, India and other developing countries are simply not going to use more expensive sources of power. The tax solution certianly will make the US change to emitting less CO2, but the taxes make the low-CO2 emitting solutions ARTIFICIALLY less expensive, not truly less expensive. What we need to do, is work on making solar and nuclear truly less expensive. Once we do this, then other coutnries will jump on board quickly. This is not going to be accomplished by taxing ourselves.

Kano and a couple of others have given you some good answers. Developing nations will NEVER agree to "freeze" their footprint much less reduce it. Without that agreement it is NOT POSSIBLE.

The increase from CHINA and INDIA in the past few years has greatly exceeded ALL improvements in the west by a few orders of magnitude. so why should the West cripple their economies and hurt the economic opportunities of their people if other nations are just going to take advantage and do NOTHING positive?

Is it possible to stop man made climate change given all countries in the world are developing fast, destroying the environment?

No. Obviously it isn't possible to stop it with our current knowledge and technology, even if we all committed Hari Kari on the green alter.

There is no way to mitigate the climate changes without damaging economies. By the rights to lives, we have to continue damaging the environment. Even the latest U.N. report said we have to live with it.

It takes just a yell to start an avalanche but how much effort would be needed to stop it? We may have been able to start this current round of global warming but the natural feedback cycles such as in the CO2 and methane from the permafrost and clathrates are far greater than any contribution we could even imagine to make. There is no indication that we could stop it.

Completely stop? Not in the short term. A certain amount of AGW is not reversible - we have not yet seen the full effect of greenhouse gases already in the atmosphere. The estimates are the earth will continue to heat up around 1degF over 50 years even if greenhouse gas emissions were stopped today. Which is why immediate action to drastically reduce further greenhouse gas emissions is critical.

No considering that none of what you mentioned has anything to do with climate change. Climates have changed before humanity ever existed and climates are changing now. Can't stop what has always been happening.

Yes. Stop giving money and power to any AGW or Climate Change cause and it will stop. Con artists can only continue with success.

No you will never get the developing countries to agree, they want the same prosperity we have.

However the goods new is global warming has stopped there has been no significant rise for 17yrs, even though CO2 levels are accelerating.

The other good news is worldwide vegetation has increased by up to 14% in places, because of CO2, our planet is greening.

We have the technology, but who is going to pay for it?
