Gary - I didn't say the study would be scientific but it follows that the same people who removed the little ice age, medievil warm period, and deny weather existed before 1970, could bolster their prophecies by ignoring reality. Just think how much easier it would be to gather your flock when you are able to claim deserts are a result of human activity.
First of all, Ruddiman explicitly states that it is a hypothesis. He implicitly assumes a stationary climate system for 100s of thousands of years. I think that is wrong. I also think it is irrelevant because even if true, the human-climate system is also non-stationary, and the last 150 years is qualitatively different from whatever it may have been previously.

Caliservative again mistakenly confuses science with his own personal likes and dislikes. While I agree that Ruddiman’s idea is implausible, it is nevertheless testable and, therefore, a legitimate scientific question
