They can make their own graps, these will usually be stand alone with no source present, they can copy rigged graphs from other skeptic sites. They may present a graph for the US and claim it is world temps...someone used a graph a week or so ago that was exactly that. They presented a question regarding world temps and the graph said US on it
It is like the 15 years of no warming. It started as a lie and I believe every skeptic here has brought it up a least once.
That came from asn article by David Rose who rearranged MET data and presented it as if it came from the MET. The MET denounced him as a liar in their blog the very same day and I just saw it here today or yesterday. The article was published in 2012 and earlier this year dailymail, I think, published it again as if it were a new article
Or the "pause" which most of the deniers here have latched on to. The original statement said that there had been a pause in surface temps BUT some jacka** skeptic left the surface temp out of it and now every skeptic on the planet thinks AGW has stopped,,,but it still going strong. This year may be one of the top ten warmest of or lease a runner up
Skeptics like selling misinformation and their followers pass along the lie or misinformation without doing any research to verify it, or they simply get that BS from a blog or personal website
They are "anomalies" and not actual temperature readings. The science has clearly stated that they cannot measure "absolute temperature" of the planet. It is a chaotic and complex system which makes it hard to measure. They make adjustments based on additional information they have received and it usually doesn't affect global average temperatures by that much when they do make an adjustment.
I can tell you how some people think that the temperatures are being manipulated. However, it is not being done by the people disagreeing with the AGW hypothesis but by the proponents of AGW.
As for "long term", AGW proponents consider long term to be a time since the Little Ice Age. That was the coldest period in the last few thousand years so they are happy that graphs always increase. If they looked back a little further they would see that the temperatures now are nothing unusual.

The examples of temperature "adjustments" that I have seen all come from Steven Goddard. The warmies will launch ad homs but will not be able to refute his arguments.

The graph below shows that a warming slope has been "adjusted" in to the temperature record by NASA GISS. The changes happened between 2004 and 2012. Strange how the adjustments seem to be generally upwards and so increase the "evidence" for AGW.
Data is adjusted to correct for the urban heat island effect. Recently scientists have been correcting for electronic thermometers, which have been introducing a cooling bias, probably because older electronic thermometers had to be placed next to the weather station building.
This is how greenies manipulate data.

Data is manipulated to people that do not understand data.
If you believe there is some conspiracy to manipulate the data, I suggest that you stop whining in YA and download the data yourself and work out your own longterm temperature plots.
@Kano: You've probably heard of my theory of temperature data adjustments. It now stands at 78,323-0 for increased warming.
I ran that through a Gaussian distribution analysis algorithm and it wiped my hard drive clean and then a hand came out of the monitor and slapped me in the face.
They do not actually manipulate the data. They would have to show their work to do that. What they will do is pick a starting point of a year and of short durations that best suits their case to show some cooling or a flat line. If the climate scientist were to do this there would be a much warranted outcry for their doing so. When the denial industry does this, it is just business as usual.
