I suspect, but cannot verify, that the wealthiest of society envisions that their wealth will help insulate them from the worst of what a warming climate could bring to us all. They are quite likely correct in their vision, for the short term. I can list several flaws in this game plan, but not any that would impact the older generations that lie to us all for their profits now. They see this as a way to help ensure that their families have the best chance to survive and adapt by using their wealth as insulation from the rest of society.
Yes, the skeptics were correct, the warming observed was not caused by humanity and the warming trend was natural and destined to stop and it did. Now it looks as if global temperatures are more sensitive to solar activity than acknowledged by the AGW crowd. That being said, global temperatures will continue to decline for decades and this will create far worse consequences for humanity, so it is time to stop spreading lies, they could lead people astray and cause the death of many people in countries were each year hinges on the previous crop. Well according to the latest report from the IPCC, climate disasters are unlikely. They are claiming a 95% certainty of warming from 1.5C to 4.5C. However, the likelihood of sudden disruptions like thermohaline circulation, tipping points, and the like were considered low. On the other hand, people are using these types of scare stories to convince people to hand over freedoms and to live in poverty to satisfy people's green religion. Indeed, most of carbon emissions are coming from the developing world, not people with billions of dollars. China is 25% of global CO2 emissions, and the amount is rising. According to the IPCC, it would take an 80% cut to stop global warming. 80%+25% is 105%. So you can't stop global warming without reducing China's amount by at least 5% of that 25%, and instead China is increasing. How do you think climate policies in the west will stop this growth and produce a reverse in China? Is pointing out that a proposed policy will not stop global warming,'propaganda'? And it is not just China. Europe, USA, Canada, Australia, Russia, South Korea, and Japan are combined less than 40% of global emissions and dropping. This means countries like India, Brazil, Africa, and the rest of South America and Asia are around one third of emissions themselves, 35%. And remember, you have to drop to 20% to get global warming under control.
