Do the greenies understand the difference between science and tyranny?

Posted at: 2015-03-12
Gringo - How many AGW dissenters have made ads depicting a small school child getting murdered by a government paid authority figure in his life just because he had the wrong thoughts? I can't think of any but I can think of 1 just like it that the AGW cultist true believers aired. I think that is what tyranny is. Think the wrong thing and some loony leftist wants to murder you for it.

I think it's people like you who need an education as to what real tyranny is.

yes. Do you understand that the term "capitalism" is new, and only created as an opposition to recent movements such as "communism" where enterprise is owned and controlled by Government? Capitalism is just the way it's always been done. The idea of Government regulation over capitalism is not new. Standards have been applied beginning with the dawn of civilisation and ruling bodies.

When you rail against any "tyranny" do you give a second thought to people or the environment? Are you even aware that the concept of a conscience arose mostly as a result of us being a social species? That we have the awareness that our actions affect others?

Like many, I firmly hope action is taken voluntarily and the science and majority of people's wishes is given the attention, and the Government does act VOLUNTARILY. Because if not we are left with a scenario where we may be asked to choose between dictatorship (many dictators have taken control to deal with some crisis in a martial law scenario and then not relinquished control) or destruction of the Earth. I for one an not willing to consider either. They are both terribad scenarios.

Currently one of the only things keeping our climate under control is the pollution in China, which is having a cooling affect. Now China wants to clean up because they're sick of the acid rain and people dying and getting sick. So if they clean up, just how hot will it become?

Something to think about: The Earth is 4.6 billion years old. Let’s scale that to 46 years. We have been here for 4 hours. Our industrial revolution began 1 minute ago. In that time, we have destroyed more than 50% of the world’s forests.

This isn’t sustainable.

Certainly. Science is about facts. In this case that cilmate change is happening and is due largely to human action.

But it is science that is the tyranny. It doesn't matter what your opinion is. Conspiracy theories about "greenies" don't matter. Only the facts. There is no vote, no appeal and no way to change the facts.

On the political side, the so-called skeptics have failed in their anti-technology goals. Wind and solar power are now as cheap as coal. And the cost continues to fall. Energy efficiency in cars, homes and businesses is a paying project. These facts mean fossil fuels -- and the oil and coal companies -- are doomed. They either find new lines of business or they will inevitably go bankrupt.

That's CAPITALISM. The "skeptics" claim to be capitalists. They are not. Capitalism is about innovation, not protecting the status quo. It is about find better ways to do things.

Alternative energy is here -- and it has the competitative advantage markets demand. Capitalism -- real capitalism -- has destroyed your entire "skeptic" project.

The short answer:

I do, you don't.

The long answer:

Science (from Latin scientia, meaning "knowledge") is a systematic enterprise that builds and organizes knowledge in the form of testable explanations and predictions about the universe. [1]

A tyrant (Greek τ?ραννο?, tyrannos), in its modern English usage, is a ruler of a horrible and oppressive character who is an absolute ruler unrestrained by law or constitution, and/or one who has usurped legitimate sovereignty. [2]

There is ample scientific evidence for AGW [3], evolution [4] the age of the earth [5]. In contrast there is no evidence for any of the creator gods [6]

You are repeating your lies about "agenda 21" as that "quote" is nowhere to be found other then right wing blogs...

The closest match would be from a book , published in 1991 titled "The First Global Revolution". It analyses the problems of humanity, calling these collectively or in essence the 'problematique'. It notes (laments) that, historically, social or political unity has commonly been motivated by enemies in common: "The need for enemies seems to be a common historical factor. Some states have striven to overcome domestic failure and internal contradictions by blaming external enemies. The ploy of finding a scapegoat is as old as mankind itself - when things become too difficult at home, divert attention to adventure abroad. Bring the divided nation together to face an outside enemy, either a real one, or else one invented for the purpose. With the disappearance of the traditional enemy, the temptation is to use religious or ethnic minorities as scapegoats, especially those whose differences from the majority are disturbing." "Every state has been so used to classifying its neighbours as friend or foe, that the sudden absence of traditional adversaries has left governments and public opinion with a great void to fill. New enemies have to be identified, new strategies imagined, and new weapons devised." "In searching for a common enemy against whom we can unite, we came up with the idea that pollution, the threat of global warming, water shortages, famine and the like, would fit the bill. In their totality and their interactions these phenomena do constitute a common threat which must be confronted by everyone together. But in designating these dangers as the enemy, we fall into the trap, which we have already warned readers about, namely mistaking symptoms for causes. All these dangers are caused by human intervention in natural processes, and it is only through changed attitudes and behaviour that they can be overcome. The real enemy then is humanity itself." [7]

Even a dishonest scientist would not be so stupid as to repeat the same lie over and over on the same forum where his lies would be exposed, you, a tyrannical psychopath who lies over and over, denies various branches of science and called for the execution of people for the crime of voting for the wrong political candidate does.

Do you know what tyranny actually is?

Have you ever lived in a country ruled by a brutal dictator, (ie in any of the countries whose democratically elected governments were overthrown and replaced by a totalitarian dictator with the help of the US?)

How many times have you been arrested just because you dared to openly say stuff critical of the government?

How many times have you been tortured just because your political ideas are different from that of the ruling party?

How many times have you and your family been forced out of your home just because you dare to go on the internet and say things criticals of the current administration?

How many of your family members have been locked away in concentration camps in deplorable conditions without any form of trial whatsoever but just because their political leaning is different than that of the current administration?

Edit @ James:

Since when is a single 'tongue in cheek' ad made by an independent organization akin to tyranny?

What is wrong with you people?

You are not doing the millions of victims of real tyranny (Stalin, Pinochet, Trujillo, Somoza to name just a few) a very big favor by calling everything you don't like 'tyranny'.

Edit @ Sagebrush:

You've been told numerous times that that quote is not from Agenda 21 as you claim. Yet you still continue to use it thereby confirming the universal wisdom that if one repeats a lie often enough people will eventually believe it.

Ergo, you are using the exact same tactics as those of the tyrannical regimes you are so afraid of.

A lot of people here have trouble understanding the difference between science and lies about it. Some of them think that science is saying Ha Ha Ha constantly and copy pasting bogus historical quotes. Some of them have trouble telling the truth in general. And some of those have more BAs than experienced scientists here, because those liars spend their lives here asking fake questions, giving BAs to those who spout the Fossil Fuel Industry gospel they have been brainwashed by, and stealing questions from others.

U.S. National Academy of Sciences, 2010:

“Climate change is occurring, is caused largely by human activities, and poses significant risks for a broad range of human and natural systems.”

http://www8.nationalacademies.org/onpine...

“Choices made now about carbon dioxide emissions reductions will affect climate change impacts experienced not just over the next few decades but also in coming centuries and millennia…Because CO2 in the atmosphere is long lived, it can effectively lock the Earth and future generations into a range of impacts, some of which could become very severe.”

“The Academy membership is composed of approximately 2,100 members and 380 foreign associates, of whom nearly 200 have won Nobel Prizes. Members and foreign associates of the Academy are elected in recognition of their distinguished and continuing achievements in original research; election to the Academy is considered one of the highest honors that can be accorded a scientist or engineer.”

Tyranny is what you will accept to protect you from the imaginary bogeman you are so scared of

Sage Too bad you don't know the difference between real science and denier lies

Is stupididy learned or inherited? Addiction to fossil fuels is a tyrany

do you understand the fallacy of generalizing about a heterogenous group of people?
