In it he claims that Roger Edson of the Joint Typhoon Center and Jeff Masters of WeatherUnderground exaggerated the wind speeds of Typhoon Haiyan for political purposes.
This statement is completely false. Masters was simply reporting the agency estimate of wind speeds, so he exaggerated nothing.
The Joint Typhoon Center based their analysis on three DIFFERENT agencies estimate of the storm's strength, using the objective Dvorak technique. All three agencies came up with the highest Dvorak classification. Edson and the Joint Typhoon Center averaged the three estimates--which were all the highest value--and got the highest value also.
Neither Edson nor Masters had any room for exaggeration. This has been explained to Maxx numerous times, but he persists in his claims that these wind estimates were political, which they most assuredly were not. This is the problem when someone like Maxx, untrained in the science of tropical cyclone meteorology, make unfounded claims--he is essentially slandering good people trying to do their jobs, without having the foggiest idea what he is talking about.
Edson has 35 years forecasting experience, including 20 years with the US Air Force, for which he received a Defense Meritorious Service Medal. Masters has a Ph.D. in meteorology and spent several years flying with the hurricane hunters.
As far as I can tell, Maxx has never studied anything.
There is a big difference between someone lying and someone making a mistake, not that Maxx did because it seemed to me he quoted them correctly in spite of Antarticice suggesting otherwise. It was Antartcice that didn't read it correctly. It is hard to be civil to people like that because they first insult you but IMO, they just come across as desperate and vindictive when they throw accusations around that aren't backed up. I haven't noticed Maxx to be a liar about anything. I believe he provides what he believes is the truth. Actually I suspect Peg does as well but some people should be more careful about the unsupported accusations they throw around just because they don't agree IMO.

Lets have a look at Maxx's claim "Masters claimed gusts of up to 170 miles per hour. Jeff Masters exaggerated the wind speeds by 50 MPH" Actual wind speeds of Haiyan (the deadliest Philippine typhoon on record as well as the strongest storm recorded at landfall) The Hong Kong Observatory put the storm's maximum ten-minute sustained winds at 275 km/h (170 mph) prior to landfall in the central Philippines, while the China Meteorological Administration estimated the maximum two-minute sustained winds at the time to be around 78 m/s (280 km/h or 175 mph). At 1800 UTC, the JTWC estimated the system's one-minute sustained winds to 315 km/h (195 mph), unofficially making Haiyan the strongest tropical cyclone ever observed based on wind speed. [1]

It was alluded to by one of the Y!A contributors that Maxx was lying about Masters. I am curious and would like to see where he was lying. What was he lying about? What the credentials of Masters are. And was this lie just a mere quote from another source? Which would not be lying in the true form.
