Are climate scientists struggling to explain a warming slowdown?

Posted at: 2015-03-12
I would truly like to see a link to the original a**hole who started that pause BS and the rest of the BS stories these DA deniers pull out o their arses

I don't see a slowdown for March http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/sotc/global/201...

Wait, let me go check the mirror.

Well I am not a climate scientist but my mirror image wouldn't answer because your question was pointless without time intervals. I already know the models are dismal failures and the "warming" has fallen way outside of their predictions which were supposedly provided with high confidence. So much for my confidence in them but as I am sure you know, they never fooled me to begin with. .

Anything else? That was easy.

Slowdown? At least you acknowledge that the world is still warming. The last article I read said that the current mean global temperature is warmer than the temperatures for 75% of the Holocene. The author posited that we would be exceeding the entire Holocene period by 2100. I can't wait.

Assume that there is a room with 2 identical boxes containing numbered balls (like the lottery) and a machine that pulls out one numbered ball at a time.

SESSION 1: For an hour, your watch as the machine pulls 100 numbered balls from one of the boxes. The balls are then sorted in order from highest to lowest.

Everyone takes a break and leaves the room.

When you return the machine again starts pulling numbers out of the box.

SESSION 2: The first number it pulls out is one the 10 highest numbers pulled so far.

It pulls out a second number which also becomes one of the 10 highest numbers.

It pulls a third number that, again, is in the top 10 of highest numbers.

It pulls out a fourth number…and a fifth number…and a sixth number….and they all rank among the top 10 highest scores.

It pulls out a seventh number…and so on….

QUESTION:

Based on your vast knowledge of science:

How do you test the hypothesis that the box used in Session 2 is the same box that was used in Session 1, where p=0.05 (“statistically significant”)?

In over 30 years of conducting climate change research, meeting hundreds of other researchers, attending dozens of meetings, and reading hundreds of scientific papers – I have never heard anyone say that.

In any case, saying something does not make it true. Conversely, just because I have not heard anyone refer to you as the “Godfather of Lies” does mean it is false.

When I was working on my Masters at the University of Georgia, James Brown was the halftime entertainment at football games. He wore a red jump suit and could still do splits. It was awesome!

Which one, deniers make so many it's hard to keep up is this since 1998 or 2005 or 2007 deniers have made claims for each, but then these same denier have also claimed 15 years of cooling for at least the last 2 years and the math on that and 1998 just doesn't add up.

Deniers make all sorts of absurd claims, I have seen one (who pretended to be in the U.K.) claim the Thames was about to freeze over as it did in the LIA (two years later still waiting for that one then there are the claims of a new LIA or even a new glacial period. (yawn)

Do these people even understand just how long it takes for a glacial period to happen many thousands of years, not 3 weeks in the middle of one or two Northern Hemisphere Winters.

If you look at the full temperature record

http://climate.nasa.gov/key_indicators#g...

it has never been a case of a smooth rise, other weather variables affect it all the time and cause dips and even rises above the effect of AGW as was the case in 1998. A fact that is all to obvious if you try to use 1997 or 1996 or 1995 or any year before 1998 as the starting point for a claim of cooling, 1998 was pushed up by the strongest El Nino of the last 100 years.

http://www.ecy.wa.gov/programs/sea/coast...

The same is true if you look at that other denier excuse "it cooled in the 40's", indeed it did, the timing of that cooling is linked strongly to an extended PDO event, from the start to the finish to the brief lull in the 60's.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:PDO.sv...

We have in fact been back in a PDO event since 2005 yet we still have had the two warmest years on record and several others (02, 03, 06, 07 and 09) that, without the boost of the 98 El Nino, would have been warmer than 1998, this is hardly cooling.

Yet now the PDO seems to be having a much reduced effect, given how much temps dropped in the 40's, when the current PDO temps will rise strongly again as they did in the 70's, this time though we know why, how long the current PDO will last is unknown but they run in cycles that can be 10-30 years and we are almost a decade into the current one, with or without the PDO we are still adding Co2 and that will override even the effect of a PDO in the not to distant future.

Hansen surely has trouble.

http://joemiller.us/2012/08/busted-leake...

Hansen, often called the “godfather of global warming,” announced earlier this month that blistering heat across the United States is so rare that it can’t be anything but the man-made global warming he has been warning about for decades.

“This is not some scientific theory,” he told the Associated Press. “We are now experiencing scientific fact.”

But in 2009, as the thermometer hit record lows in America, he and other climate scientists panicked in a flurry of emails: “Skeptics will be all over us – the world is really cooling, the models are no good.”

Ha! Ha! What a failure. What a disgrace. What type of an imbecile would follow such a agenda driven communist sympathizer?

http://www.c3headlines.com/fabricating-f...

Look at how James Hansen cooked the books. This is not an honest man. Yet hundreds of drooling greenies respond to every word he publicly states or every lie he promotes.

Just look at the likes of the Grifter: Ha! Ha! He can't even read a chart. I showed him this chart several times and he still goes on believing in an increase in global temperature. Apparently, he can't read a chart. If some nearby third grader knows the Grifter, I wish they would go over and explain it to him.

Global Warming is a lie

It's not hiding in the ocean?

Big Gryph - that would be nice, I mean if you could find reality and kick it's *** for not following predictions.

Has anyone asked a scientist?

1. If there even is a warming slowdown?

2. Is temperature rise falling behind model predictions?

If yes to either of the above, can they explain it?

If no to either of the above, are they trying to explain it, and if so, why?
