A second arctic air mass is going to effect much of the northern hemisphere this week -?

Nope, they renamed it bombogenesis: http://newsbusters.org/blogs/pj-gladnick...

And they say it supports the global warming narrative: http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/technology...

The theory goes that melting Arctic sea ice leaves dark, open ocean areas which allows the Arctic to warm more rapidly. This means the temperature gradiant to the south is decreased causing the jet stream to meander allowing large cold Arctic air masses to intrude into NA and Europe and Russia (I thought these same air masses were rapidly warming but I guess I'm not a climate scientist).

Also a curiosity from this non-climate scientist is that recently, Arctic sea ice extent has been increasing and is really quite high right now: http://arctic-roos.org/observations/sate...

Although, we have been told that it's not necessarily ice extent or area that's the problem but rather ice volume or thickness that's the real indicator. Maybe the ice is so thin that the Sun shines right through it and warms the water underneath. And then that heat passes through the thin ice into the atmosphere. But then again, I'm not a climate scientist.

The second year and you already want to call it a 'trend'?

Using only 2 years of data is a clever way of exploiting noise to create a (false) trend. The thought that such a short time period can be used to establish a trend is ludicrous.

The Jet Stream is still in the "wrong" (it moved north in 2009) place, and still too weak to hold the arctic air up where it belongs. Polar Vortexes are going to become a normal part of northern hemisphere winters, unfortunately.

NO It is weather, it requires a whole cold winter and several in succesion to start doubting climate change, but that might well be what is happening.

A single weather event proves nothing. Such statistical analysis as calculating the average and regression analysis is how trends are determined.

If it is colder, it is weather and if it warmer, it is proof that SUV's caused it, unless it is from a polar vortex caused by us.

I thought Mike comically (even though Peggy won't get it) showed why even if warming caused cooling, we can't really be blamed even using their contorted logic.

Believers, like Beliebers simply believe because believing in warming is cool.

Yes, it does "trend cold" in winter.

That doesn't mean global warming is not real.

no the cold air is global warming

The polar air masses are always there. It occasionally dips south and we get to feel it. No big deal.

I doubt it because you say it. You always lie

Will believers just dismiss this as "weather" instead of the second year of a colder global climate trend? Why do the believers see a heat wave as "proof" that so-called "global warming" is real, but trending cold as just weather?
