1.) If you climb up to a plateau and stay there for 5 minutes, does that mean that since the last 5 minutes you have been at a higher altitude than normal, that you are still climbing???

2.) CO2 alone causes only 1 degree of warming with a doubling. The rest is due to "positive feedbacks".

3.) You assume the oceans are only positive feedbacks, the same that you asume all of the earth is governed by positive feedbacks. The problem is that 95% of your models have been overestimating and the idiotic positvie feedbakc run world would ahve long since become frozen solid or a Venus-like environment. The 4.5 billions year that earth has been around shows your are wrong. And you think the data is on your side. LOL

Well, CO2 as a global warming gas is insignificant due to the law of diminishing returns. This means the more CO2 pumped into the air the less of an effect it has on climate. This is well known in climate science research and even buried in the IPCC reports.

This means the benefits for increased CO2 greatly outweigh the negative effects.

So for the three points I would make is:

1) CO2 effectiveness greatly diminishes as atmospheric concentration increases

2) Increased atmospheric CO2 concentrations could increase crop production -

3) Absolutely no proof that past biological diversity and environments suffered from the proposed catastrophic effect of increased future warming and atmospheric CO2 concentrations when past conditions far exceeded what the alarmists conclude is the breaking point. In other words back when the world was warmer and had more CO2 in the air there's no proof any of the catastrophic effects of such occurred so there's no point in believing these dire doom and gloom calamities are going to happen in the future.

1) An alarmist on a radio talk show was rejoicing in the fact that glaciers were receding and uncovering artifacts from WWI. This proves Global Warming sez he. But wait! WWI was only 100 years ago, which means between then and now the glaciers grew to cover the artifacts. This shows a cycle if you ask me.

2) More forest fires now. This is easy, we have been stopping small fires for a century so that forests have increased in size crowding out grassy areas that would act as a firebreak. So now the fires are bigger because the forest is bigger. Many areas do controlled burns now to decrease the threat of gigantic fires.

3) I'm old and the weather now is about what it was when I was a kid. Back then we didn't have 24/7 news coverage so every event was not the "end of the world" to gain ratings. On CNN when someone burps, it is breaking news.

There can be no counter arguments to the fact global temperatures are increasing. What has been claimed as "Global Warming" occurs like clockwork every 100,000 years according to every

available (accurate) climate record, as do opposing ice ages (Milankovich, Tschumi-Stauffer), . This natural climate cycle has been going on for several million years. The fact that we are currently emerging from an Ice age (they taught us that in grade school, remember?) indicates we are most assuredly on the temperature upswing. Q & A time for Liberals: (1) How many ways can we blame this on other political ideologies, and (2) how can we use that knowledge to make money to publicize our socialist agenda?

I notice a bunch of people who couldn't answer the question and provide counter-arguments. It doesn't say much when you can't even express the opinions of people on the other side.

Scientists are calling for an 80% cut. China is at 25% emissions and growing, so any policies will not work because the Chinese will not go along.

The rest of the developing world other than China emit even more than China, and they are not going along with reductions in their wealth either.

The cost of reducing emissions is very high, as it means people must pay more for energy.

5. Am extremely modest (less than 1/2 degree C) temperature escalation was observed in the nineties, a trend which leveled off by about 1999. This change from the mean temperatures is miniscule compared to other periods through the centuries, such as the "Little Ice Age," when the residents of London could walk across the frozen-over Thames and another period during the Middle Ages, when the Vikings could colonize Greenland!!

6. When the authorities occasionally concede that the consequences have been less than predicted, instead of a reversal of theory and policy (which we would expect from honest investigators)...we see them "soldier on" and insist even more firmly on their dogma, in a kind of "rear action." This is the behavior of the pseudo-scientist...or a member of an evangelizing, apocalyptic religious cult...or AGW/GCC alarmist. The data simply do NOT support the claims. Honest injun.

7. The AGW (now renamed ACC, which--itself--is suspicious) hypothesis is based on highly complex climate computer models which involve a number of questionable assumptions.

8. This group is inordinately fond of presenting data in an odd, misleading way. Mark Twain used to speak of "lies, damn lies...and statistics!" When considered legitimately and dispassionately, the data do NOT support the cataclysmic scenarios heard all over the airwaves and online. This is the stuff of fairytales and hi-jinks...and Nazi-like propaganda.

If I may, I'd like to repeat one of the quotes cited by "Sagebrush," which is an absolutely "knock-out!!!"

I would suggest you do some real research if you intend using the false claims made here by several deniers

like the claim of no warming since 1998, this is quite simply not true, denier use 1998 because it was pushed far higher than the effect of AGW by a record El Nino in late 1997/98, which is quite easy to see in the temperature record.

Even with that spike, but without a record El Nino 2005 and 2010 where warmer than 1998, kano it seems can't even do the math to figure out when 1998 was, 17 years ago would have you in 1997, he made the same claim last year, when it would have landed him in 1996, neither of these years has been in the list of ten warmest years, for years.

kano also claims CO2 is "(90% more powerful than CO2)" the basic flaw in this argument is that water vapor can't rise unless temperature does, CO2 is not constrained in this way and CO2 is in fact up ~40%.

CO2 contributes (on average) ~10% of the natural greenhouse effect which lifts the planets temp ~30c so 10% or that would be about 3c, a 40% rise in that contribution would raise the planets temp ~1-1.5c and temp is up 1c.

Sorry I can't comment on Michael's answer, as I'm not sure what planet he is on, certainly not this one, scary thing is someone else gave that answer a thumbs up, that tells you a lot about deniers..

Deniers have invented over 170 counter arguments/theories/conspiracy theories, taken as a whole they show just how pathetic denial really is. None of there theories have really worked, but deniers just ignore that.

Then we have james he plays the law of diminishing returns game another denier favorite, of course deniers also claim past high CO2 levels didn't harm the planet (in fact there was a question today on that today) but such questions tend to ignore that over much of the period the planet had higher CO2 it was warmer and had higher sea levels often with no polar caps at all, but deniers don't want to talk about that they just want to talk about plants.

There is certainly debate in science over the scale of the changes we are likely to see, but with the IPCC estimates being the more conservative of these and they now talking of around 1m of sea level rise by the end of the century. With only a moderate increase in the current rate of rise we are on track for that.

Denial of AGW has really run out of steam, even their oil industry founders are starting to cut them loose as deniers theories get wilder and wilder.

The State of Washington just finished the wettest March on record. Pity the poor people in that mud slide caused by that record rain.

California and much of the Southwest U.S. is in the midst of a record breaking drought.

Last year, the severe heat caused thousands of deaths in Europe. Record breaking heat.

Last summer they ran out of air conditioners in Alaska. Record heat

This winter broke all kinds of records in the U.S. When have you ever heard the term “Polar Vortex” before this winter?

These are just a few. I posted no-links for brevity sake - a quick Google of "record heat Australia" (or any other mentioned above) will give you thousands of hits from credible sources.

If we broke one or 2 records, I wouldn’t worry. When we are breaking weather records everywhere on the globe, I sit up and take notice. And so should you.

But first; I posted no predictors or equations. I did beseech you to just look out the window and see the thousands of people who are dying around the world due to extreme, record breaking weather.

England is having its wettest winter since 1766. See above for more examples. North, South, East, West we have severe, record breaking weather that affects white, black yellow, rich, and poor alike. First, please understand that the REAL debate is about "man-made" Global Warming --- not global warming. It's true there has been a little natural warming over the last several decades but it was NOT caused by human activity.

Man-made Global Warming advocates have no empirical science to back their claim. And their advocacy movement has been mired in scandal since its beginning. Here are some things you should know:

1) The Earth has been both much warmer and much colder in the distant past, long before the industrial age. Climate is indeed changing, but it has always changed and probably always will. These are obviously natural cycles that man does not and cannot control.

2) Global Warming alarmists have been caught in one lie after another. Huge scandals have been continuously revealed since the early 1980’s when the campaign began. Some of these are listed below:

3) Al Gore’s movie "An Inconvenient Truth" was full of bald faced lies. Like the Polar Bears were drowning, or the Ice Caps were melting, or the oceans were rising --- all lies. In fact a court of England ruled the movie was so flawed that it could not be shown to school children without a disclaimer.

4) The ClimateGate affair exposed the utter corruption of the Warmist community with their exposed emails speaking of how they intended to “hide the decline” and how to manipulate data and the peer-review process in their favor.

5) Then there is the fact that the globe isn’t even warming anymore and the small amount of warming experienced from the 1900’s to 2013 timeframe was negligible and well within the envelope of normal.

6) During this same period of marginal warming, scientists also noticed that other planets in our solar system were warming. What do these planets have in common ? --- the Sun.

7) Phil Jones, head of the Climatic Research Unit, the Guru and High Priest of Global Warming himself admitted there has been no statistically significant warming. If anyone on the planet would have been aware of statistically significant warming it would have been Phil Jones and he admitted there has been none. (Game Over)

8) Warmists like Al Gore refuse to engage in any formal debate on the issue. That’s because on the few occasions Warmist have debated openly, they lose, and they lose big. Lord Monckton utterly destroys them time and time again.

9) Al Gore and other Warmists have stated clearly that they want to make CO2 the object of a global tax. CO2 is the perfect object for their revenue purposes because you literally cannot live without making CO2, after all, we exhale it. And good science has revealed that no correlation exist to show CO2 drives warming. Demonizing CO2 is all about the tax dollars, and that’s all its about.
