"Scientists at the British Antarctic Survey say that the melting of the Pine Island Glacier ice shelf in Antarctica has suddenly slowed right down in the last few years, confirming earlier research which suggested that the shelf's melt does not result from human-driven global warming."
That statement is a non sequiter. Different factors could cause the rate of melting to speed up and to slow down. Such factors are often independent of whatever is causing the trend.
< because it fascinates me, I am trying to understand whats going on, it is undeniable that the extent is growing why?, volume well I don't know, but extent affects albedo, volume does not.>
Yes, it is very interesting. That is what motivates climatologists.
Try reading the British Antarctic Survey press release. the register used as a source. It is quite interesting, especially the parts that the register chose to omit.
How many questions have you asked about Antarctic ice???
The ice extent grows in winter, primary over the eastern portion and most of this melts in winter.
Regardless the land ice in western Antarctica continues to melt and the ice volume decreases yearly. What you are spending your life on is sea ice
Reduction in land ice does indeed effect albedo
easy: global warming = Gore gets rich $$$
it has not changed since last time you asked.
This report says melting rate is at the lowest recorded, this at Pine Island where many scientists were worried about the effect of global warming
