Before you start uncorking the champagne, consider that more hurricanes, if they happened, would be a negative feedback to global warming, as the reflect a large amount of sunlight. Fewer hurricanes would be a positive feedback.
Increased hurricane activity was based on the fact that the oceans were warming, providing more "fuel" to developing storms. Of course, increased high level wind shear could reduce hurricane activity- so the AGW crowd wins either way.
I wonder if the increased high level wind shear was predicted by the models or observed after the fact. Also, I really wonder how much the oceans have actually warmed. According to current "consensus" thinking, (and ARGO buoy data) ocean surface temperatures have stayed steady. The extra heat is hiding at the bottom of the ocean.

Those predictions by top Climate Scientists were made during the year of Katrina. They said that this was just the beginning, that AGW was going to cause an epidemic of hurricanes.
Rush Limbaugh said not true and he predicted the next year would see less than 3.
The actual number was zero, zip, nada.

In direct and unquestionable answer to your question: They never came to fruition. They were just tools of Eco-terrorists.
It depends upon whether you believe in actual reality or alarmist "reality". Actual reality is based on what actually takes place in real life. Alarmist "reality" is based on what the alarmists believe will happen which overrules actual reality.
Alarmists will also predict completely different scenarios and then use the correct predictions to convince themselves and skeptics that AGW is real (although it makes AGW completely non falsifiable at the same time).

So, according to alarmists, AGW has caused more hurricanes to take place in the past, but will cause less hurricanes and more hurricanes to take place in the future.
Alarmists: "AGW is completely falsifiable. When uh... well... uhhhh... when.... uhhhhh...well ... Tell you what; You come up with a scenario on how AGW could be falsified and then we'll tell you if you're right or not. See? AGW is completely falsifiable."
