The "prostitution" sound bite has to be my favorite example of the denialist camp’s sensationalism.
Original text of the prostitution claim:
"women will disproportionately face harmful impacts from climate change, particularly in poor and developing nations where women regularly assume increased responsibility for growing the family’s food and collecting water, fuel, and other resources…"
"…food insecure women with limited socioeconomic resources may be vulnerable to situations such as sex work, transactional sex, and early marriage that put them at risk for HIV, STIs, unplanned pregnancy, and poor reproductive health"
It should not be anywhere near the top of the list of concerns about climate change, but that doesn't automatically mean that it is without merit. Significant climate change (man-made or not) has the potential to make some communities worse off than they would otherwise be. If people are worse off, they become desperate, and desperate people resort to desperate acts like robbery or selling their bodies. I don't see why that conclusion makes people so excited (pun), since it seems perfectly logical.
Since I have been married, I have learned that females tend to shop and drag their husbands to the mall. I call this being malled by my wife. A fringe benefit is that there are lots of good looking women around so at least my confused dazed delirium isn't completely wasted. I have noticed that on warmer days the girls tend to be more scantily clad. In my experience, this might lead to an increase in the pregnancy rate (well not exactly in my experience, I just heard it somewhere).
I must admit that Corri does have a point. If they tend to be indoors more (cooling), this also leads to increased pregnancy rates. I believe we need to have this problem modeled, perhaps with Victoria Secret models, and I might even volunteer to conduct the study.

Yes. The climate affects us all, but none more than unmarried teenage girls. The rising ocean levels cause seashores to come closer to land, making everyday activities a fraction of a percentage closer to a romantic walk on the beach. Teenage girls are especially susceptible to this kind of overt, fictionalized romance and will ovulate accordingly. Ovulating women send out pheromones which attract the opposite sex and unmarried teenage women are less likely to be able to repel these sexual advances. Over time the incidence will increase. If you are worried about yourself, a friend, or family member, try to keep pace with the warming globe and move your teenage girl 1-2 inches farther inland every year.

Is it a strawman argument??? Look at Graphic's first link, which linksto the original article. Track down the source of the article. Don't just whine about the website, look into whether the information present is legit.
You can claim such questions are idiotic strawman arguments AS LONG as your side is acting in accordance with avoiding fear-mongering. When Congress is discussing how climate change can lead women to prostitution, all of a sudden, your side looks silly and this question becomes relevant.

Because someone claims that AGW causes everything, whether or not a scientific link can be found, I will push my Smart Car into the river, buy the biggest SUV on the market and tow a trailer full of lead to make sure that it gets a single digit miles per gallon. And the next time the toilets back up at a nuclear power plant, I will be sure to have an accident in my pants.
Just because someone claims that global warming causes something, doesn't mean that it does, unless a scientific link can be made between cause and effect. And just because someone pulls such a claim out of the end terminus of his/her digestive tract does not nullify the science that global warming is happening

Maybe they think they can convince their parents that their promiscuity is caused by AGW because California democrats claim that AGW will cause more prostitutes standing on street corners.
I think not. The better reason is for a free house and a steady supply of public support money. The more they produce the more they get.
I'd be interested in seeing a study describing that cause and effect relationship. There's a whole boatload of other factors that would have to be ruled out.
