Why do people want it to seem real, well so they can take advantage of it in their own ways, researchers get more money, politicians the power to control regulate and tax, greenies so they support their religion
Take an environmental science course at a university. I thought there was still a debate about whether global warming (or rather, climate change; there is a net warming of the earth, but some places will get cooler, others warmer) exists, but really the only debate is among the uneducated (not meant to be derogatory, but in terms of climate/environmental science) United States population. As for why people would lie about it not happening, the answer is similar to why the tobacco companies lied about tobacco not causing cancer for so many years. If global climate change is a hoax, then we can continue to burn fossil fuels as fast as we can possibly manage, chop down rainforests, and drive our gas-guzzling Hummers around without feeling bad about it. If it's real, we have to change. Scientists in relevant fields (key word: RELEVANT) are so concerned about climate change because it does require that we change the way we do things.
Read some articles from trusted sources. National Geographic has some good ones.
Honestly, there really is no reason why people would lie about climate change existing, because what on earth would happen? Maybe a few people would start riding their bikes more and taking shorter showers, but at the highest levels, where policies are made, people would know that it's not truly happening, so nothing of consequence would happen. However, large polluters and people who find climate change inconvenient can simply claim that it's not happening and cite some wacko, and then they don't have to feel bad about driving their Hummer every day and taking hot baths every night.
I recommend reading 'Merchants of Doubt' by Naomi Oreskes. Some of her points a little over the top, but the gist of the book is really good. Basically, educate yourself by reading scientific writing (I would not include 'Merchants of Doubt' as scientific). Don't decide based on peoples' answers here, look it up and decide for yourself.
James it is a tricky question. You can yourself judge as you see the climate has changed and it is not like it used to be. You yourself know how the temperature of some places reaches extreme.the place where I live,used to have summer temperature in it's highest range 44 C but now it has reached to 48 C that to in just 4 years. This all due to Global Warming and yes of course it is real and if you still don't believe me then consult with a biologist,geologist or a scientist who has good knowledge of climate
Who do you believe? I'd suggest trusting scientists, and specifically scientists who specialize in climate. Upwards of 90% of those accept that AGW is real, and is likely to be at least moderately harmful.
Why would people lie about it being real? All the reasons I've heard strike me as pretty weak. If governments are pushing it so they can institute carbon taxes, why have so few governments done so? Anyone who thinks that scientists are doing it to get more funding doesn't really understand science or scientists. Those are the main "reasons" I've heard.
Why would they lie about it being false, or simply pretend it's not true? Because they don't want to do the things they'd need to do if it's true. They don't want to trade their cars for public transit, or get electric cars. They don't want to give up all of the technology they have, or pay any more for the electricity to run said technology. They work for the oil or coal industry, and don't want to lose their jobs. In one way or another, they don't want to have to do the things that any reasonable and ethical person would do if AGW is real and a threat. Those sound like pretty solid reasons to lie, or to fool yourself, to me.
Sure it is. The temps have warmed by about 0.8 degrees over the past 100 yearas. Based upon the warming since the Little ice age, man may be responsible for about 0.5-0.6 degrees of warming. The real question is about the feedbacks. We are not worried about a 1 degree increase in temps. This little bit of warming would cause few problems.
Not real. Too many natural negative feedback to offset the miniscule amount of CO2 warming caused by humanity. Natural global warming is very real. It's been occurring since the end of the little ice age
Climate change is REAL. But it's not man made. What we do here on earth is way too miniscule to consider.
Even red state politicians are planning for the extreme weather effects we have been experiencing. So even if you say you don't believe in global warming, it doesn't really matter so long as you plan for its effects.
Yes and beware of those who say it's just a hoax. They are conspiracy freaks.

Man-made Global Warming is an enormous global HOAX. And here is the proof.
But first, please understand that the REAL debate is about "man-made" Global Warming --- not global warming. It's true there has been a little natural warming over the last several decades but it was NOT caused by human activity.
Man-made Global Warming advocates have no empirical science to back their claim. And their advocacy movement has been mired in scandal since its beginning. Here are some things you should know:
1) The Earth has been both much warmer and much colder in the distant past, long before the industrial age. Climate is indeed changing, but it has always changed and probably always will. These are obviously natural cycles that man does not and cannot control.
2) Global Warming alarmists have been caught in one lie after another. Huge scandals have been continuously revealed since the early 1980’s when the campaign began. Some of these are listed below:
3) Al Gore’s movie "An Inconvenient Truth" was full of bald faced lies. Like the Polar Bears were drowning, or the Ice Caps were melting, or the oceans were rising --- all lies. In fact a court of England ruled the movie was so flawed that it could not be shown to school children without a disclaimer.
4) The ClimateGate affair exposed the utter corruption of the Warmist community with their exposed emails speaking of how they intended to “hide the decline” and how to manipulate data and the peer-review process in their favor.
5) Then there is the fact that the globe isn’t even warming anymore and the small amount of warming experienced from the 1900’s to 2013 timeframe was negligible and well within the envelope of normal.
6) During this same period of marginal warming, scientists also noticed that other planets in our solar system were warming. What do these planets have in common ? --- the Sun.
7) Phil Jones, head of the Climatic Research Unit, the Guru and High Priest of Global Warming himself admitted there has been no statistically significant warming. If anyone on the planet would have been aware of statistically significant warming it would have been Phil Jones and he admitted there has been none. (Game Over)
8) Warmists like Al Gore refuse to engage in any formal debate on the issue. That’s because on the few occasions Warmist have debated openly, they lose, and they lose big. Lord Monckton utterly destroys them time and time again.
9) Al Gore and other Warmists have stated clearly that they want to make CO2 the object of a global tax. CO2 is the perfect object for their revenue purposes because you literally cannot live without making CO2, after all, we exhale it. And good science has revealed that no correlation exist to show CO2 drives warming. Demonizing CO2 is all about the tax dollars, and that’s all its about.

Just because some people believe in something, that doesn't make it real and if they are wrong that doesn't necessarily make them liars, just wrong.

Just to be clear, it is not just the U.S. and UK. Every science academy in the world agrees that it is real. There are people who want to confuse you about what scientists know for their own political reasons or because they are rather dim-witted. But the great scientists of the world are very very clear: Climate change is real.

Yes and no. The Earth does have some climate change but it takes thousands and even millions of years for there to be any noticeable changes. It's very difficult to predict Earth's climates. Remember when they said the ice glaciers would all melt by 2014? Well they actually grew by 20%. Humans do contribute to climate change but not as much as global warming trolls think.......
Global Warming is real, so yes.
