The gasification process done on biomass such as trash and dried sewage can produce syngas and charcoal, the syngas can be used to synthesize gasoline and diesel or just used in gas turbines to generate electricity. The charcoal, if used as biochar in the ground sequesters carbon indefinitely reducing the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Synthetic gasoline and diesel could be carbon neutral if we're willing to pay a higher price for the fuel.
