Jas, you shouldn't throw around insults if you can't back them up. Why don't you start using your own mind instead of being so eager to have others think for you. A brain is a terrible thing to waste. So what there was a drop in ice 10 years ago but it has sprang back according to the chart. How can you blame CO2 for that? Come on, use that brain.
As Ian so accurately put, alarmists see proof in everything. A little variability isn't proof of anything except that it doesn't correlate very well with the constantly increasing CO2. Was that so hard to figure out? A brain can actually be quite amazing if you allow it to work for you.
This graph you cite does not show the sea ice as the same as 35 years ago, look at it again. it shows that between 1979 and 1989 the sea ice was consistently between 1 and just under 2 million square kilometres.
Then look at the data between 2004 and 2014 and you see that the sea ice has only been recorded at barely over 1 million square kilometres on a few occasions.
This difference is more apparent when you look at the lower end of the graph, between 1979 and 1989 the minus figure never reaches below -1.2 yet in the last ten years is consistently reaching -2.4 or 5.
All I can say is that the chart you show actually shows that global warming is happening, the opposite to what Tony Heller, whoever he is, or you suggest.
You would see this for yourself if you had ever learned in school how to read such a graph. It raises the question who is the biggest idiot, Tony Heller for using evidence which actually disproves what he is claiming, or people like you who pass this rubbish on. All without even looking for yourself to see if what you are repeating has any basis in fact,
Look at the graph again, this time with an open mind and start using the brain you were born with.
All ICE is freshwater Saltwater does'nt freeze. Global warming ended 11/28/2012 confirmed. Even today Glaciers are still accumulating snows and ice 7/30/2014. Mike

There is a common misconception that the area covered by sea ice is important. It's not. What matters is that glaciers ON LAND are melting at unprecedented speed, and the water is flowing into the ocean.
If you think that graph shows sea ice extent to be the same as 35 years ago then: (1) you either need glasses or (2) you need to get a globe and study the geomorphology of the planet - paying particular attention to the fact that the earth does not look exactly the same everywhere.
Or, maybe it's time to think about getting a human brain transplant.

Despite the noise, the graph you supplied actually show a long term decrease. Only an idiot would compare two points.
If you actually been in the arctic decades ago and more recently, you would certainly notice the decrease.
No, no, no. You don't understand. A decrease in Arctic sea ice is absolute proof of man made global warming. An increase in Antarctic sea ice is absolute proof of man made global warming.
