What type of climate is the leeward side of a mountain range located in the path of prevailing winds likely to have?

Most all of the eastern side (leeward) of the Sierra Nevada's (Nevada) is desert. Winds prevail from west to east in that area of the world.

Dry and warm.

Going up the mountains, water condenses and it rains.

But the air warms as water condenses, so that when it goes back down on the far side of the mountains, it's warmer, at the same altitude, than it was when it went up the windward side.

As air moves from the leeward side to the windward side, it loses moisture.

If it's on the leeward side, it will generally have less rain than the windward side, because the air is descending.

Yup, Pegminer explained it: DRY

more humid, rain

edit..ooops... peg is right. windward is humid, leeward is dry..
